Reflections on a busy week – at the WOW Festival

There was a flurry of activities during the week 3rd March – 9th March – for the WOW (Women of the World) Festival at the South Bank.

I was down there at the South Bank 3 days of the week. It started on Wednesday where I organised the Sisters of Frida‘s WOW Party. We had a great party and many lovely people came to support and joined in. I was lucky enough to speak twice – the introduction to SoF in the main WOW party up in the Clore Ballroom, Royal Festival Hall and the other on Intersectionality and Disability. This is a topic very close to my heart.

But I had to go back for 2 panels – Austerity: Who Benefits and Feminism and Priviledge.

I was awed but found the 5 minutes limit rather short and must admit I am not used to speaking on that arena. (Yasmin Alibhai-Brown, as chair for the panel on feminism and priviledge, told us that she was giving us more time but I wasnt prepared for that!) But it was great to be there – a great honour.

The WoW organisers said they hope to involve us again next year for WOW 2015. Something to look forward to!
